  1. Paul says:

Ethanol is a very good motor fuel, but it is highly corrosive, and it has less heat content per unit volume than does gasoline. People who run Alcohol in racing vehicles actually have to purge it from the fuel system and the engine by running it on gasoline until all the alcohol is gone to preserve the aluminum parts that are contacted by it. Also, since Alcohol has a lower heat content, as you add more of it to gasoline, your mileage decreases in direct proportion.
Then there is the issue of the efficacy of growing corn for this purpose and what that process costs in terms of energy consumed to make the alcohol and the effect on the price of corn which, in turn, affects the price of everything we eat that contains corn or corn byproducts such as corn surgars.

  2. Mike says:

Several stations near me sell Recreational Fuel (ethanol free) for $1/gallon more than regular.
You’d have to eliminate the Federal Regulations and EPA Licenses to keep the price down.
However, one tankful and your car is running like new.
You won’t believe how it makes your engine run.
